Great looking cake Jill! World Soil Day happens every year on the 5th of December. To celebrate many people often bake cakes that look like soil types, farming scenes, soil profiles etc to share with friends, colleagues, the public. Education and delicious food combined.
Congratulations Jill on reaching post 200, and thank you for making each and every one so interesting, informative and delicious to read! I always finish with a smile after learning of Terry's contribution. 😊
Sorry, I missed this! (And thank you for thehelpful comment below). I agree, the flavour would be great, but there's something lovely about the soft crunch of the seeds flecking through the cake. Do it anyway! Maybe throw in a tablespoon of poppy seeds if you have them - they also give an interesting textural effect. Thanks, J.
Congratulations, Jill! Your email is always my favourite of the week! Here's to the next 200.....
Thank you! I'm honoured. More cake!
There can never be enough cake!

What a fabulous initiative, thanks for sharing.
Added to the list!
Congrats on the 200. Black sesame seeds in chocolate cake is genius! I just finished reading Matthew Evan's "Soil" so this cake is timely.

My oh my, your cake definitely looks like their soil, but far more palatable I’m sure. Another great recipe to try. Thank you Jill
Jill this is the most wonderful read! On behalf of all of the Regen community THANK YOU x
Your posts always bring a smile to my face!! I have black sesame powder on hand, would that suit instead of the sesame seeds?

Hi Lucy, the powder would taste lovely, but would not have the same textural or visual result
(apologies for jumping in, just ex chef opinion x)
